I. Course Description
SPE-003 is for students whose native
language is not American English. Stress is placed on understanding
and speaking American English, with special attention to pronunciation.
We will use transcription.

III. Course Work / Evaluation Your final
grade will be based on the following.

by 15 classes =

Attend Class Regularly
A
student who is absent 3 classes is subject to failure.
2)
Come to Class on Time
If you come late, arrival time is recorded & counted
in the grade.
3) Participate in Class Discussion Voluntarily
This is a class for improving speaking ability. A student
who does not participate voluntarily in class discussion,
and/or does not answer questions from the teacher will fail
the course.
As much as -2 points per class will be deducted if student does not participate voluntarily
in class discussion.

Homework

Put
written homework into the envelope at the beginning of class.
No
credit for work handed in late.
If you are absent, you are still responsible for the work
you missed.

Course Tests & Pop Quizzes 10%
Tests
are cumulative. What is on one test will be on future tests.
There are no make-up tests. If you miss a test, the grade
from the next test will be counted twice.
2) Final Exam 15%
Final exam is on the last day of the semester.
No make-up test if student is absent on the final day of class.
Cheating
= 0 on test
[answer sheets, using dictionary, notes, books, writing on
desk, copying, speaking to a classmate, etc.]
